Teachers and Leaders

The district recognizes that impactful professional learning is the foundation for improving student learning.  The district also recognizes that the effort required of teachers and leaders to continuously enhance their professional expertise is hard work and wants to recognize these educators for the ongoing commitment to the district, to their students, and to the profession. 

Pathway 1

Earning Stripes

Enhancing and demonstrating professional expertise.

From the list of available Stripes, teachers and leaders who successfully earn eight (8) stripes in any academic year receive a merit-based stipend of $500. 

Pathway 2

The Contemplative Educator

The Contemplative Educator Series and the Annual Portfolio Review.  The first portfolio review would occur in May 2022. 

The district will award a merit-based stipend of $1000 for teachers and leaders who successfully complete the annual portfolio Contemplative Educator portfolio review on an annual basis in any given academic year.ed at all times.

Professional Learning

MAPS believes strongly in fostering professional learning that invests in teacher and leader growth as well as in developing accomplishment-driven teacher leaders. Our professional learning maximizes the use of technology, is job embedded, and focused on growing each participant to enhance their skills and toolkit to meet the ever-changing needs of each and every student, in every classroom, every day. Teacher and leader voice is also a priority here in MAPS and there are many opportunities to get involved on our team including committee and team memberships, grade level/ department teams, collaboration, and team learning, just to name a few.
